A whole mess of genderbender!Sleeping Beauty sketches I did in the past few days in a sad and unsuccessful attempt to get my muse back...I think she committed suicide when i wasn't looking...haven't seen her in ages...

Each of these sketches has a story behind it...or a really short dialogue that went through my mind as I doodled....

I'll go through them left to right...starting from the top...

1: Briar(I still think it can be aboy's name) in his new "princely" clothes...apparently, Philip thinks he looks quite good in them..and is ready to whisk him away to be- *is suddenly ambushed by Philip's horse, Samson*

2: The gifts of Beauty and Song...you know the part early in the movie where the Fairies give their gifts to the newly born monarch? I didn't really put much effort into color..just splashed on some blue and stuff...

3: Briar loves Aunt Merryweather's cooking....I assume she's the one who usually cooks since she said 'But I've never baked a fancy cake..'

4: Philip and Briar as kids....*hides shota manga*

5:Aunt Fauna reading young Briar some stories of Princes and Knights...apparently, he's really getting into the spirit of it...

"Do you think I could ever be a Prince or a Knight, Aunt Fauna? Like the ones in the stories you read to me?" Briar asked excitedly, waving around his wooden sword.

Worry flashed through the Green Fairy's eyes but was quickly replaced by mirth.

'Well, of course, dear," she replied, putting down the book and rocking back in her chair. "Now, do you want some of those cakes that your Aunt Merryweather baked?"

"Yes, please!" Briar exclaimed, dropping the matter and running to the kitchen.

So the secret was safe...for another day.


6: Chibis! It's been a while since I drew Chibis....I think I lost a bit of what little touch I had... Philip's saying "Stay away from my man,bitch!"

7:Their first meeting,copied from a scene in the movie.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you!" the young man exclaimed, taking hold of his hand.

Briar flushed.

"It wasn't that!" Briar exclaimed and realized that he was stuttering(much to his embarrassment). 'I wasn't frightened. It's just that you're-"

"A stranger?" the young man supplied, grinning.

"Yes."

"But don't you remember? We've met before!" the stranger said, eyes sparkling with mirth.

"We have?" Briar echoed, bewildered.

"Of course! You said so yourself - once upon a dream!" the man said, smirking.

Briar's first impression of him: "OMGWTFWHAT'SHISDISORDER?"

8: Another sketch based on a scene - where he/she's singing 'I Wonder'

9: Another movie-based one - when Friend Owl and all the other animals help realize his 'Once Upon a Dream'

10: A young Briar helping Aunt FLora collect berries for a pie

11:Young Philip and Briar in their two different worlds...or maybe not so different...

12: Briar reading to Philip...and their little feathered friend...

13:Another movie-based one....daydreaming of castles and handsome princes and adventure and romance...
